Welcome to the 2008 - 2009 Nebraska High School Mock Trial Competition. This year’s criminal case, State of Nebraska vs. Chris Byrd, dealt with alleged procurement of alcohol for minors at a graduation party. Later in the evening in question, one of these minors crashed his/her vehicle and was rushed to the hospital with head injuries. Did the parent, in fact, knowingly provide alcohol to minors? What safeguards are necessary to prevent underage drinking? These are only two of the many questions that were debated in the 2008 Nebraska High School Mock Trial case.
