The ninth annual Law Day Job Shadowing for fifth graders activity has been kicked off! Judges, court administrators, clerks, and magistrates are coordinating the activity in 11 communities across the state. These court personnel, serving as local coordinators, invite one or more classrooms of fifth graders to "shadow" lawyers, judges, court clerks, law enforcement officers, court reporters, interpreters...and even drug dogs...to learn more about careers in the legal field.

Participating communities include Chappell, Kearney, Kimball, Neligh, O'Neill, Oshkosh, Pawnee City, Stanton, Wayne, Wilber, and Winnebago.

Teachers and students involved in Job Shadowing may visit the Bar Foundation's job shadowing web page where they will find short orientation podcasts. These podcasts help prepare both students and teachers for the experience they will have when they visit law offices and courthouses. Classroom resources and frequently asked questions about the program are also posted on this web page. Additional information includes a vocabulary, types of legal careers, courtroom procedures, and courthouse technology.
