Daniel J. Gross Fund

Gross Fund LogoThe Bar Foundation administers the Daniel J. Gross Fund, which was established in 1958. Omaha attorney, Daniel J. Gross, bequeathed a substantial gift to the Bar Association. The Association then turned over the administration of this Fund to the Bar Foundation in December 1997. Trustees examine all applications. The purpose of the Gross Fund is to "aid the charitable and welfare purposes of active practicing Nebraska lawyers and their families through the relief of the poverty of such lawyers and their families." There are specific criteria for individuals who request financial assistance from the Gross Fund. First, the deceased or disabled attorney must have been an active, practicing lawyer. Second, beneficiaries of the Fund can only be lawyers, lawyers' spouses, and lawyers' children. The Fund was designed to alleviate the financial burden of individuals and their families who have incurred financial distress. The Trustees of the Gross Fund evaluate each request before making a final decision.

All individuals requesting financial assistance must complete an application form that may be obtained by contacting the Foundation Executive Director. (All inquiries are strictly confidential.)
