2011 Mock Trial Case to Be Posted on Foundation Website August 12

Registration is now open for the 2011 Nebraska High School Mock Trial season. This year's original case is available on the Bar Foundation's website after 12:01 a.m. on Friday, August 12. The case, which involves a civil matter (lawsuit) rather than a criminal matter, may be found at Registration information is also found on this page; the registration deadline is September 9.

For teachers and administrators who might be considering Mock Trial for the first time, we pleased to offer the new Mock Trial podcast, which features highlights from the 2010 State Competition in Lincoln has been posted. The video includes comments from Senior Judge Lyle E. Strom, United States District Court for the District of Nebraska, and Mock Trial team members from around the state discussing the benefits of the program. There is also an excerpt of an interview of Chief Justice Mike Heavican, Nebraska Supreme Court, with KOLN-KGIN Anchor Serese Cole as well as scenes from Mock Trial Trivia, a game enthusiastically played at the annual Mock Trial Banquet. The regional Mock Trial competition takes place from October 3 through November 18. The State Championship for teams winning the 12 regional competitions will be on December 6 and 7 at the Sarpy County Courthouse in Papillion. The Mock Trial Banquet will be at the Embassy Suites – Papillion/LaVista, the host hotel, on December 6. The final round of the state competition will be on December 7. The team winning this competition will represent Nebraska at the National High School Mock Trial Championship in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in May 2012.
