The 2026 National High School Mock Trial Competition was held in Des Moines, Iowa, on May 6 to 9, with 42 states or territories competing. Nebraska was represented by their 2025 state champion, Duchesne Academy, who performed exceptionally to win 7th place overall. Three Nebraska judges also volunteered their time to judge several rounds of competition over the course of two days (Click here to see who they are). Congratulations to Duchesne Academy!

December 3rd and 4th at the Sarpy County Courthouse in Papillion saw the final round of the Nebraska High School Mock Trial Competition. Duchesne Academy and Wayne High School battled it out in the final round. Judge Stefanie Martinez coached Duchesne Academy, while the runner-up, Wayne High School, was coached by retired Judge Robert Ensz. Duchesne attorney coaches were Mark Laughlin and Rick Jeffries, and Wayne attorney coach was Sandy Brown. The championship round, held in Papillion at the Sarpy County Courthouse, was presided over by Douglas County Court Judge Tom Harmon, with performance judges were Attorneys Steve Gealy of Lincoln, Jason Ausman of Omaha, Mandy Gruhlkey of Omaha, and Kim Hawekotte of Omaha. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication. Congratulations to all of the teams (see on the right side bar) for making the State Championship and to all the high schools who participated this year making our 2025 State Mock Trial Competition such a success.
