12 Teams Compete at Nebraska State Mock Trial

On December 5 and 6, twelve teams from around the state of Nebraska competed at the Federal Courthouse in Omaha, NE to win Nebraska High School Mock Trial. Twelve teams represented ten regions:

Region 1: Gering High School
Region 2: Ogallala Senior High School
Region 3: Perkins High school
Region 4: Ainsworth High School
Region 5: Gibbon Public School
Region 6: Lutheran High Northeast
Region 6: South Sioux City High School
Region 7: York High School
Region 8: Fillmore Central High School
Region 9: Bellevue West High School
Region 10: Creighton Preparatory School
Region 10: Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart

Each school participated in three trials over the course of two days. Schools are either plaintiff or the defense in a case that is written by a group of Nebraska attorneys and a former judge. The Case Committee researches and authors an original case each year.

On Monday evening, students attended a Mock Trial Banquet and were recognized for their hard work during the season.

The championship round was between Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart and Creighton Preparatory School. Creighton Prep won and will be advancing onto National in Little Rock, Arkansas in May of 2023.

Every team did a great job and the highlight of the championship was being back in-person after three years!
